Arundel Living - News and living in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, and The Chesapeake

Arundel Living

Fall 2007 - Present

Anne Arundel County, Maryland is one of the greatest living-places America. It is home to the city of Annapolis--known as the sailing capital of the world, and is flanked by the Chesapeake Bay, one of America's most beautiful natural resources. The county is renown as a diverse cultural and musical center, and valued for its small-town feel in light of its big-city culture and proximity to Baltimore and Washington D.C.

I plan to be a lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County, and I am extremely interested in making it the best place possible. After hearing a lecture by newspaper pioneer Rob Curley , I realized that my county, already a market for a local paper, several local entertainment publications, and several big city newspapers, could benefit from a "hyperlocal" hub. I began working on ideas for Arundel Living in late 2007, and plan to gradually introduce content as my personal and professional lives permit. Hopefully, it will become a center for local information and interest, and allow residents to create a better sense of community.

Small is the new big, and I feel that in a world of mega-publications and transnationalism, a focus on the local and immediate is necessary to maintain the integrity of the human individual.

The Legend of Perseus

Winter 2008 - Spring 2008

For my senior project in the Digital Media program at Drexel University, I led a team consisting of myself, Kevin Appel (lead character animator), Brittany Fedor (character modeling, rigging, and animation), Joy Godowski (website and Facebook backstory management), and Timothy Urian (script and projection) in creating The Legend of Perseus, a seven minute live stage show that features an actor (David Roy) as the classical hero Perseus. He journeys to fantastic settings and interacts with mythical characters via foreground and background animations, projected on 35 feet of screens. I will post video of the performance as it becomes available.
