Jeffrey A. Haines Biography

Formative Years

Jeffrey A. Haines was born in Annapolis, MD in the mid 1980s. He lived with his parents, Rob and Karlene Haines, in the suburban community of Annapolis Roads. In July 1987, his brother Douglas was born.

Jeff attended two years of preschool at Heritage Learning Center in Annapolis, and then began first grade at Arnold Christian Academy.

In October 1992, the Haines family moved a few miles north to the town of Arnold, Maryland, because of its excellent schools. After the fourth grade, Jeff's parents made the decision to begin homeschooling their sons.

Inspiration Period

During a trip to Walt Disnery World in early November 1995, Jeff and his brother dreamed up the ideas for several series plotlines, spurred on by the influence of movies they enjoyed such as Speilberg's Jurassic Park and The Princess Bride. On that trip, Jeff decided that one of his callings was to entertain through story mediums, and he has worked towards that objective ever since.

Jeff started 9th grade at Broadneck High School in Annapolis. He credits his public school experience with greatly enhancing his social abilities and broadened his horizons, while helping him to make decisions about which paths in life were worth taking, and which ones should be circumvented.

In 2003, Jeff's maternal grandfather passed away. This loss was the first of a family member that Jeff had experienced, and the experience greatly impacted his life, making him more aware of his commitment to religion, family, and friends.

Pursuit of His Dreams

In Spring 2004, Jeff graduated from Broadneck High School with five-hundred other seniors. That Spring, Jeff had been accepted into the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University, the University of Maryland, Rochester Institute of Technology, and James Madison University, but chose Drexel University in Philadelphia because of its proximity to Annapolis, the financial aid the school offered, and it's Digital Media major's techinical foundation.

While pursuing his degree, Jeff spent six months in 2007 at The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philly.com as an Online Producer. During this time, Jeff worked with reporters and photographers to create online story packages, and worked with editors and producers to start and develop a strategy and workflow for the organization's web video program. Jeff worked with a partner to shoot and edit over 50 news video segments, developed tutorials to help train newsroom staff in multimedia reporting, and personally taught reporters how to synthesize their own multimedia assets.

On His Own and Marriage

Jeff graduated from Drexel University in June 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Digital Media, and after spending a week with friends in the family retreat on North Carolina's Outer Banks, immediately moved back to Annapolis, Maryland. In the next week, Jeff found an apartment at 1901 West Street in downtown Annapolis, and secured a position as Multimedia Producer for What's Up? Publishing Group, a publisher based in Annapolis, Maryland that produces What's Up? Annapolis, What's Up? Eastern Shore, and What's Up? Weddings magazines. Jeff created web content and shot and edited video for WhatsUpMag.com. In that same month, via an online dating site, Jeff met the woman who would be his wife.

Jeff and Lauren Heintzelman were engaged on the day after Thanksgiving in November 2008. They planned a wedding for early in the same month the next year.

During their courting period, Jeff had begun shopping resumes around to Annapolis area companies to try to secure more permanent employment. After some contact with a hiring contractor from Netcordia, Inc., and some meetings with the companies excellent management staff, Jeff was offered and accepted a position as Marketing Creative Specialist.

After spending most of Winter, Spring, and Summer 2009 planning their wedding, Jeff and Lauren Haines were married in November of 2009. The couple honeymooned in the Bahamas, and when they returned home, moved into a apartment in Millersville, Maryland. Heavy fall rains that year flooded their basement apartment, and the couple moved to a two story townhouse across the street.

Changes

In spring 2010, Jeff's employer, Netcordia, was aquired by Infoblox, a Santa Clara, California-based network infrastructure automation technology company. At the same time Lauren secured a job at a local private grade school.
